VETERANS RETRAINING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Department of Labor (DOL) has joined with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to launch the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP). The program provides participating Veterans age 35 to 60 with up to 12 months of training assistance in a VA-approved community college or technical school program that leads to a high demand occupation. Applications are being accepted for the program, which will serve up to 99,000 unemployed veterans with training beginning on or after July 1, 2012.
A new feature has been added to DOL's career website, My Next Move, focusing on Veterans that allows the user to enter their military classification and see what civilian careers best match their skills. To learn more about My Next Move for Veterans, go to: http://www.mynextmove.org/vets/
